Basically, there are several weak links in getting the audition.

  • How often does your agent send out your picture?

  • Does the casting director or her assistant trash it?

  • Is your picture lost in a pile of hundreds of others; So the director/producer never see it?

  • Not all productions are listed in the breakdowns your agent gets, so there are many upcoming productions they don't know about that we do list.

How can THE MERCURY PRODUCTION REPORT Help Me?

  • FIND OUT who the casting director  is for a project.

  • HELP your agent or manager and yourself, by calling them and saying, "Hey, I heard about these projects and I would like to be submitted for them.

  • SUBMIT YOURSELF directly to the producer or director!

  • FAST AND CONVENIENT  Sent directly to you via fax or email, there is no logging-in or forgotten passwords!

  • USE HOT LINKS  For email subscribers, The Mercury Production Report offers "Hot Links" to  websites and email addresses.  With just a CLICK, you can immediately connect to a production company's website or email that company a letter introducing your services. Save it to your hard drive for future reference or print it.

The Mercury Production Report gives you the information you need to submit your package directly to the producer, director or the appropriate casting contact. Mail your headshot/resume to him/her directly.  In most cases they will see your face and pass it on to the casting office and perhaps even call you in.

Actors rarely have the production address where the director is. So only, the director sees a few headshots. This is your advantage….

Since all of our projects are in the development or pre-production phases, some of them may not have the casting director listed. If that is the case call the production office and inquire "Who is the casting director for this project?" If still no casting director yet, keep the issue on file and make a note to call them back in four weeks or if in development phase in three-six months.)

Commercials are cast very quickly, therefore your window of opportunity may be very short. We recommend submitting to the production company for future commercials, not for the specific commercial we have listed.

Most independent productions do their casting "IN HOUSE," which means the director, producer, or other production staff member is handling the casting (as opposed to a professional casting director).  We provide you with the information that allows you to submit directly to projects that are being cast IN HOUSE.

If you are not presently represented by an gent or manager The Mercury Production Report is a great resource for promoting yourself.

We recommend sending out a cover letter, headshot and resume to as many projects as possible. Also call the office and talk to who is casting.  Tell them quickly your type and ask them if there are any roles you you might be right for. Make the pitch quick and ask if you can send in your reel if you have one or ask when they will be conducting "general interviews" (meeting new actors for reference for all their casting projects.)

Be professional. Be confident.  Present yourself like you would to any potential employer, but be respectful of their time - don't push it too much if you meet with rejection.  Just keep calling them back now and then and ask to meet them.  As you know marketing yourself is a numbers game, submit enough times and you will be cast…work the numbers using The Mercury Production Report and you will get results….

Good luck and keep the faith.
